Here at Wroughton Infant School we pride ourselves on healthy eating and have been awarded the "Healthy Eating Award".
All children have their own drinking water bottle in their classroom so they can have regular sips throughout the day.
At playtimes the children are offered a piece of fruit as a snack which is free to everyone, there is also milk avaliable which you may buy at a subsidised price.
We also provide a healthy cooked meal at lunchtimes for children who would prefer a hot meal than a packed lunch. Menus and order forms are on our website.
We all know how hard it is to encourage children to eat healthier, and it can be a struggle to get them to try something different.
If we all work together the children will benefit.
A healthy diet for young children is so important because:
<> Gives them plenty of energy <> Builds up their strength <> Helps to improve their concentration <> Promotes resistance to infection <> Minimises future health risks like Type 2 diabetes, iron-deficency anaemia, obesity and dental decay.
Tips for a healthy start:
<> Make food and eating times fun social occasions <> Encourage your child to try lots of different foods <> Avoid fizzy, sugary drinks <> Encourage your child to drink lots of water instead <> Give whole milk preferably
PLEASE REMEMBER NO FIZZY DRINKS OR CANS PLEASE.
CRISPS, SWEETS BARS OF CHOCOLATE ARE ALSO NOT ALLOWED.
