Spanish takes place throughout the school in various formats from Reception up to Year 2. In Reception, Spanish is taught via learning opportunities such as song and rhyme, storytelling and games which offer the children ways to interact with the language and with one another. In Year 1 and 2, Spanish is more focused and the children are encouraged to listen attentively to new sounds and to start to make sound and spelling links. In Year 2, the children receive language training from the teaching staff at Ridgeway Secondary School; this is in either Spanish or German.
